This racquet was used by Pete Sampras when he won the 1998 Wimbledon Men's Singles Finals. Sampras defeated Goran Ivanišević in the final (6-7(2), 7-6(9), 6-4, 3-6, 6-2), tying Björn Borg's Open Era then record of five Wimbledon men’s singles titles. Graphite and Kevlar composition tennis racquet with clear and black gut strings painted with a red Wilson logo.
The racquet frame is black with red and yellow lines around the head. Racquet has an oval head and an open throat. There is strips of lead tape on the inside sides of the racquet head. At the bottom of the head there are several leather "buttons" or buffers between the frame and the string loops. The grip is covered with bluish-purple tape secured with orange tape at the top. The butt-cap is white plastic with a red Wilson logo.
